Welcome to our Quirky Bubba MASTERCLASS SERIES.

ALL ABOUT DRAWERS

We understand that a lot of our audience are first time parents, and that choosing what nursery furniture is right for you can be a little daunting.

In this series we will explore common terms and questions about different parts of the nursery. An informed decision is a happy decision & that’s exactly how we want you to feel with your QB nursery.

In this article we will be talking all about DRAWERS.

CHANGE TOPS.

WHY ARE THEY REMOVABLE?

Removable chests tops / change tops are great as they’re usually only needed for a short period of time compared to the drawer unit itself. Once you get more comfortable with changing your bub, you’ll be able to do it pretty much anywhere (oh, and you will, ahah).

The benefit of a removable change top is that you can use the drawers for many years to come. Whereas with a change table, once the baby stops wearing nappies it’s no longer needed. In our opinion, drawers with removable change tops are a wiser choice, both financially & environmentally.

DRAWER DEPTH.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?

The depth of your drawers is important, but it’s also a personal choice. Some people like really deep ones and they use dividers to separate their things. Others like to use a unit with more drawers, that are not as deep. It really is an individual preference.
When looking at drawer design, think about how you like YOUR drawers organised at home. A baby will have lots of clothes (probably more than you) and it is handy to have a system that you’re already familiar with. Onslow Change Unit

HOW TO THEY WORK?

DRAWER UNIT HEIGHT.

WHY IT MATTERS?

When choosing a change table, you need to be mindful of the height of the unit. Many people think change tables feel too short, but remember -after you change the baby you’ll be leaning forward to pick them up. When you pick up a new baby you are supposed to bring them into your chest
-supporting their neck and head.

If the change table is too high when you pick up baby they will come to your face, and won’t be given the right amount of support. As a first time mum everything is new and you want to make sure you have the most control. The measurements of all our units are on our website, and we have a range of heights to suit different people.
